How visitors subscribe
Every page has a Subscribe to updates button. Visitors choose a channel, and under Notify me about either every component or only the ones they use.
- Email: we send a confirmation first, and nothing else until they confirm it.
- Discord and Slack: the visitor pastes an incoming webhook URL from their own server or workspace. We post a welcome message, and the subscription is saved only if their webhook accepts it. Messages come in your page’s style.
- A maintenance calendar for Google, Apple or Outlook, and an Atom or RSS feed, with no sign-up at all.

What they receive
When you report an incident, schedule a maintenance or post an update, keep Notify subscribers on. Subscribers of the affected components hear about it on their channel; maintenances also land in the calendar and every update in the feeds.
How your emails look
Emails carry your page’s brand on their own: its logo when that’s a PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP (Gmail and Outlook don’t show SVG, so an SVG logo gives way to the page’s chat avatar beside its name), its theme’s primary colour on the button and links when that stays readable, and a dark version for mail apps in dark mode.
The page’s Emails tab shows each email exactly as it’s sent: the confirmation, every incident and maintenance step and the reminder, with sample text or one of your recent events, in each of the page’s languages, light or dark, at desktop or phone width, and as plain text. Send me a test sends the one you’re looking at to your own address, marked [Test]; tests don’t count against your email limit.
On the paid plan you can also set an email logo for light and dark mode, the button and link colour (the tab checks it stays readable on both backgrounds), whether the header shows the logo and name, the logo alone or the name alone, a short footer note such as your company’s address, and square or rounded buttons. Emails take no custom HTML or CSS, and every update keeps its unsubscribe link.
English and Romanian
In the page’s Settings, under Languages, choose the Default language and, under Also offer, the other one. With both, the page shows a language switch, and each version has its own address (?lang=ro) for search engines. Visitors see the page in the language they chose last, or in their browser’s language when the page offers it.
Subscribers get the confirmation, every update and maintenance reminders in the language they subscribed in, by email, Discord and Slack. The page’s buttons, labels, dates and reminders are translated for you.
What you write, you write in each language. When a page offers both, incidents, maintenance, templates, component and group names and the page’s description get a tab per language in the admin, with your original marked. A tab you leave empty shows your original text, so you can translate only what matters. Placeholders such as {window} are filled in each language. A mirror page shows the text in its own language.
Signed webhooks for your systems
To send updates to your own systems, open the page’s Webhooks tab, enter an https Endpoint URL and select Create webhook. The secret is shown once.
Each delivery is a JSON body with a type (incident.updated or maintenance.updated), the event and the update, signed in the X-Status-Signature header:
X-Status-Signature: t=<unix time>,v1=<hex HMAC-SHA256 of "t.body" with your secret>Email limits
The free plan sends 2,000 notification emails a month; after that, email pauses until the next month. The paid plan includes 10,000 a month, then €0.50 per 1,000. Only email ever pauses: your page, webhooks, feeds and Discord and Slack channels keep updating, and your organization’s owners get one email saying so. Confirmation emails don’t count.
See who’s subscribed
The page’s Subscribers tab lists every subscriber with their state (confirmed, unconfirmed or unsubscribed), the components they follow and, on a page in two languages, their language, and lets you remove one. Export CSV downloads them all. Making a page private asks what to do with them first.
Bring subscribers from another tool
- On the Subscribers tab, select Import.
- Upload the export from Atlassian Statuspage, Better Stack, Instatus or another Upstreamr page, any CSV with an email column, or paste addresses. The preview shows which rows are ready, already there, unsubscribed, invalid or over your plan’s limit.
- Tick These people already opted in to updates from us only if they did: they’re then confirmed at once, and your name and the time are recorded. Left unticked, each new address gets one email asking to confirm.
Addresses that unsubscribed are never added back. To add one person, use Add.
